Excited
I have mentioned before that it’s a lot easier for me to draw sad or upset than happy or excited. I have more practice with these feelings because I have been drawing them for years. But trying to connect with the others was the whole point of this exercise. It gets me to think about what makes me happy or excited or feel free, which sometimes I overlook. It’s easy to get trapped in a down spiral and we don’t always allow space for our up cycles! So this week we celebrate that which gets us moving, lights us up and makes us sparkle. I hope you have found this yourself.
The drawings go in order, Days 1-5. Click on the first drawing and you can click through them all.
Day 1. Up. This feels very contrived. Excited feels like jumping but there must be something else.
Day 2: I don’t understand why I am drawing these silly marks that I don’t like. I want to erase them but I told myself that I can’t so here they are, my supposed excitement.
Day 3: Today we were in St Jean de Luz and I went into my favorite paper shop and when I came out I told my husband, that place lights me up! And then I thought, Oh! That’s it. So this is the shop.
Day 4: Excitement is me wearing a flower hat. Then me getting distracted by drawing and more drawing and color and faces and I love drawing and painting!
Day 5: Can being excited happen in your head, when you are sitting and relaxing? Yes, it’s called Dreaming. I want to do more dreaming this year.
This is the Draw Your Feelings Project.
Next Feeling: Calm
Will you join me? This is a year long project, dedicated to connecting to our feelings and ourselves through our art. Send me your drawings, I’d love to see them!
